ECEC Value 1: Recognizing childhood as a unique, sacred phase of life that must be nurtured and protected.

👶🏽Not metaphorically. Not as a slogan. Literally sacred, a distinct, irreplaceable phase of life that deserves to be nurtured and protected, not rushed, standardized, or sacrificed for test scores and academic timelines.

🧑‍🧒‍🧒And yet our field is under pressure to treat childhood as a rehearsal. To accelerate it. To measure it. To make it productive.

⛔I refuse that framing. And I think you do too.

Chichood is sacred.

👷🏿‍♀️I have built everything I do around this belief. My courses, my advocacy, my research, and my community all begin here, with the conviction that childhood matters on its own terms, not as preparation for something more important later.
